Friday, Sept. 11 | Doors Open at 6:30 AM CT | Climb Begins at 7:46 AM CT
Join us at Gies Memorial Stadium for a powerful morning of remembrance, reflection, and community as we honor the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call on September 11, 2001.
The southeast and southwest gates of the stadium will open at 6:30 a.m. The climb will begin at approximately 7:46 a.m., to coincide with the timing of events on that fateful morning. Like the brave first responders in New York City, participants will climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. At the same time, the new videoboard will show video and news footage captured from that morning.
The event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend, whether choosing to participate or watch from the stands.
WAIVER & RELEASE OF LIABILITY
In consideration of being permitted to participate in the September 11 Memorial Stair Climb at Gies Memorial Stadium (the “Event”), I acknowledge that my participation is voluntary and involves physical activity, including climbing and descending stadium stairs. I understand and voluntarily assume the risks associated with the Event, including physical exertion, falls, contact with other participants, weather and stadium conditions, and other risks that may result in illness, injury, disability, or death. I am responsible for determining that I am physically able to participate and understand that I may slow down, take a break, or stop participating at any time.
For myself and my heirs, personal representatives, and assigns, I release, discharge, and hold harmless all organizers of the Event, including the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois and its respective officers, employees, agents, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or losses arising out of or relating to my participation in the Event, including claims arising in whole or in part from the ordinary negligence of any Released Party, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
By electronically accepting this waiver, I acknowledge that I have read and understand it and voluntarily agree to its terms.
If the participant is under 18 years of age, I represent that I am the participant’s parent or legal guardian, consent to the minor’s participation in the Event, and agree to this waiver on my own behalf and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, on behalf of the minor participant.
